The Supreme Court rejected the government’s appeal against a High Court ruling that the criminal record checks scheme used in England and Wales was ‘arbitrary’ and unlawful, and infringed human rights. The court ruled in favour of three people who claimed their lives were blighted by past minor criminal convictions.
