The Bar Council, with the assistance of the Bar Standards Board’s Professional Practise team, shared its experience on the Bar Council’s relationship with government, how barristers are regulated and the protection of criminal defense lawyers. It was also an opportunity to outline the Bar Council’s plans for its Lord Chancellor’s Training Scheme successor, the “Bar Council China Training Scheme”, for which their support was expressed. The Bar Council also recently met with the Zhengzhou Bureaus of Justice. The Remuneration team shared its experiences of the administration of the legal aid system in the UK with the delegation, which is in the process of reforming its own system.
