Representatives of the International Committee visited Sao Paulo, Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro last October, to coincide with the visit by the Lord Mayor of London.
This first visit established important contacts with a number of organisations, including the Brazilian Bar Council, to prepare the ground for a first official delegation. This followed a decision by the Committee to make Brazil one of its priority jurisdictions for business development purposes. The country’s economy is growing at a considerable pace, and as recent hosts of the World Cup and the Olympics, Brazil is attracting considerable investments from the UK and elsewhere. This in turn creates opportunities for the Bar.
A full report on the visit and the legal market opportunities will be published in the March edition of Counsel Magazine.
