On 30 April, the Bar Council held the 3rd joint seminar with the Deutscher Anwaltverein. This year the topics discussed were collective redress and appellate advocacy.
The participants found the comparative character of the seminar very informative and a number of useful contacts were made over lunch and the drinks reception (kindly co-sponsored by the European Circuit) which followed the seminar. This
seminar is now becoming a regular event in the diary and we hope to encourage a good number of internationally oriented practitioners to come with us to a big commercial centre (tbc) in Germany next year.
The seminar was preceded by useful discussions on regulatory issues between the Chairman of the DAV and the Chairman of the Bar and their respective delegations. There were useful exchanges on issues such as new business structures and conflict of interest rules which will be followed up.
