We are currently in the process of building the Commission and undertaking the necessary preparatory work to enable it to be operational from this summer. Critical to this will be the appointment of the Head of the Findings and Reports Unit, who will work directly to the Chief Commissioner to support them in discharging their responsibility for making findings and completing reports following our investigations. You will need to ensure that robust processes are in place and consistently operated across the suite of reports to manage all statutory requirements including safeguarding, handling sensitive information and seeking representations from those entitled to receive draft material or reports ahead of publication. You will also need to ensure that appropriate arrangements for publication are made for each report and that the requesting individual or family is able to understand the outcome of their case.
Key to success in this role will be your analytical and written abilities, combined with extensive wider legal experience of making determinations based on evidence. You will be a qualified lawyer and bring a track record of building, leading and motivating high performing teams and engaging effectively with stakeholders and other interest groups. You will be able to form exceptional working relationships with the Chief Commissioner, board and investigatory teams, and engage effectively with stakeholders including requesting individuals or families to deliver our principal objective of promoting reconciliation.
We are building a values-led organisation. We operate with integrity, impartiality, openness, accountability and respect, as set out in our Code of Conduct. This is reflected in our fair and open recruitment processes. We encourage people to join us across all backgrounds, communities and faiths to help us carry out our work.
The Commission will be based in Belfast and further operational sites in Northern Ireland and London. Travel to all locations will be required, but hybrid working arrangements will help us support a range of flexible working patterns.
This is an outstanding opportunity to join an organisation with a unique and vital remit.
