We are a leading offshore law firm with a network of nine international offices looking to recruit two litigators to join our busy and growing disputes team in our British Virgin Islands (BVI) office.
We are looking for a 6-8 PQE Barrister or Solicitor with an interest in advocacy to be a Senior Associate and a 3-6 PQE Associate hire each with good experience in a strong litigation practice, wanting an exciting change and to become key members of our team.
Engaged in fast paced, high stakes and fascinating work in the BVI Commercial Court, our BVI litigation and insolvency team was refreshed in 2020 through “shrewd lateral hiring and good recruitment” of Solicitors and Barristers who enjoy working together in a fused profession. The fresh, growing and dynamic team of “some of the most talented litigators in the BVI market” are considered “a pleasure to work with”.
Our work encompasses the full spectrum of BVI commercial litigation: shareholder, contractual, company, trusts, and civil fraud disputes, asset tracing, insolvency and restructuring matters.
The BVI disputes team improved its tier ranking in the most recent Legal 500 and “continues to go from strength to strength in the BVI” headed by Alex Hall Taylor QC, “an outstanding advocate who is prepared to roll up his sleeves”. Partner Tim Wright is acclaimed to be “one of the best lawyers in the BVI” who “gets things done to City of London high standards”, while Counsel Simon Hall is “a rising star in the BVI” (all quotations from Legal 500 Caribbean 2022).
Alongside interesting international work and great opportunity, the BVI offers a healthy work/life balance, low taxation and an enjoyable outdoor Caribbean lifestyle. Salary and benefits packages will be market competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Candidates should have excellent academic qualifications, be in good standing and admitted to practice in England & Wales or the British Virgin Islands.
Applicants should send their CV and covering letter to recruitment@careyolsen.com for the attention of Rebecca Reddy.
