We are seeking to grow our team with experienced barristers and solicitor advocates qualified in England & Wales who are passionate about advocacy, strategic litigation, and legal analysis, and who are looking to move away from the pressures of self-employment without sacrificing variety or challenge in their practice.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a Barrister or Solicitor Advocate to undertake instructions in complex civil litigation. The successful candidate will provide specialist advocacy, advisory, and drafting services primarily in:
- Financial mis-selling
- Consumer credit and banking
- Residential landlord and tenant
- Costs and civil litigation funding
- Personal injury
You will be expected to manage a busy paper practice as well as regularly appear in court (mainly the County Court) and contribute to the formulation of litigation strategies to be deployed by our clients

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing specialist advocacy services at all stages of civil litigation.
- Conducting legal research and drafting written advice, pleadings, and submissions.
- Advising clients and solicitors on the merits and strategy of cases.
- Attending and representing clients at trials, CMCs, interim applications, and conferences.
- Contributing to training and mentoring junior barristers and legal staff.
- Assisting in the continued development of the team’s litigation offering.
- Ensuring compliance with the Bar Standards Board Handbook, SRA Code of Conduct and internal policies.
COMPETENCIES
- In-depth knowledge of civil litigation and the Civil Procedure Rules.
- Strong post-pupillage experience in multi-track and fast-track litigation.
- Confident courtroom advocate with experience at various court levels.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Sound judgment and the ability to analyse complex legal issues quickly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable using case management systems (Proclaim experience is desirable).
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Demonstrable organisational and time management skills.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Must be a qualified Barrister with completed pupillage or Solicitor Advocate.
- A current practising certificate is essential.
- Significant advocacy experience, especially in civil matters.
- Involvement in Part 7 claims from inception to trial.
- Proven ability to attend and conduct client conferences and draft legal documents.
- Experience with multi-track and fast-track litigation.
- Prior experience in an employed barrister role or chambers advantageous.
