Commercial Litigation Barrister

Appleby is one of the most highly-regarded global law firms across multiple key offshore and onshore jurisdictions. Their reputation for top quality work consistently attracts an elite client base of blue-chip companies and high net worth individuals. They are looking for practitioners with the drive and ability to flourish in a highly professional, friendly and thriving global organisation.

Our Cayman Islands office is looking to recruit junior barristers to its fast-growing Dispute Resolution team to work on its high-profile portfolio of complex commercial, financial services, and insolvency litigation in the Cayman Islands. The team’s work and clients are of the highest quality; and the attractive tax-free basic salary and bonus package remuneration on offer will be commensurate with the calibre of the desired applicant(s).

Outside of practice, the Cayman Islands affords a high-quality of Caribbean living; with flights from Grand Cayman direct to Miami, Jamaica, Cuba, London, and New York, among others.

Applicants are sought from pupils not kept on for tenancy, through to c.10-12 years’ call with very strong academics, and proven relevant experience from a leading Commercial or Commercial/Chancery set.

You must be able to assume responsibility for advocacy against Leading Counsel, on major commercial litigation and, in particular, litigation involving cross-border issues, insolvency, asset tracing, and complex financial disputes - all being heard in Cayman’s specialist Financial Services Division, of its Grand Court.

You should be able to handle a large caseload with minimal supervision and demonstrate the ability to maintain and build on existing client relationships.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously are essential.

This is a rare opportunity to work on some of the largest and globally recognised cases, with a high-profile team, and will suit those with an entrepreneurial flare and a thirst to work in a highly commercial environment.

To learn more about this opportunity, contact Guy Hewetson, in confidence, on +447531 674 203 or email on guy@hewetsonco.com
