CPS Proceeds of Crime (CPS POC) division fight against Economic Crime, ensuring that criminal assets are restrained, confiscated and enforced. Working with law enforcement colleagues in the UK and abroad to use recovery powers to retrieve assets, and providing advice to CPS Areas for prosecuting such cases. CPS POC also deal with civil litigation that may arise from the exercise of prosecutorial functions of the CPS.
In your role you will be able to deliver justice and you will have the chance to make a very real impact on society, with the freedom to use your judgement. Your work will be both challenging and varied in nature, advising on and applying for restraint of assets and confiscation. You will be need up to date knowledge in proceeds of crime work and criminal law, providing specialist advice throughout proceedings from before charge to after conviction, and there will be opportunities to present in magistrates’ court and higher court.
We are looking for applicants who have a working knowledge of the law regarding restraint and confiscation assets, and enforcement of confiscation orders. Demonstrating high levels of advocacy, media handling and excellent communications skills. Applicants will be able to work with a wide range of people effectively and persuasively, developing and maintaining operational relationships with criminal justice partners to ensure successful applications.
