The Cayman Islands Government is currently inviting applications for the following post within the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions:

Crown Counsel (Criminal)
CI$72,240 – CI$97,176 per annum (approx. £63,500 – £85,500 tax free)

The Crown Counsel (Criminal) will be responsible for conducting
prosecutions and complex criminal litigation on behalf of the
Director of Public Prosecutions.

Operating at all levels of the Court system, including the Cayman
Islands’ Court of Appeal, Counsel will be required to advise law
enforcement agencies, and to undertake extradition and mutual legal
assistance matters.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Applicants for this position should be a Solicitor, Barrister or
Attorney-at-Law qualifi ed to practice in an English-speaking
Commonwealth jurisdiction. Qualifi ed to practice in the Cayman
Islands in accordance with the Legal Practitioners Law (2015
Revision), applicants must also:

• possess a minimum of fi ve years’ post qualifi cation experience,
including substantial criminal advocacy work in all tiers of the
courts, and experience of processing mutual legal assistance
requests and in white collar crime prosecutions;
• have a sound knowledge of criminal law, mutual legal assistance
treaties, human rights and constitutional law, evidence law
practice and procedures;
• possess strong advocacy, interpersonal, negotiation, research and
analytical skills.

The remuneration package for this role includes a non-contributory
pension scheme and medical coverage.
