*Barnardo's v Buckinghamshire and others

Pension – Pension scheme. The proceedings concerned a dispute as to the interpretation of the definition of the retail prices index (the RPI) in the rules of the appellant charity's pension scheme. The Supreme Court held that, in the circumstances, the 'RPI' meant 'the RPI or any index that replaces the RPI and is adopted by the trustees'. Accordingly, the Supreme Court held that the appellant's appeal failed.
