Personal Injury: Quantum Case. Clinical negligence. Diagnosis and injuries resulting in death. PSLA of £1,000 with total damages of £550,000. The deceased fell onto his left hip while walking his dogs. The claimant took the deceased (her husband) to A&E where an x-ray was performed but revealed nothing unusual. He then undertook a CT scan which confirmed that the deceased had suffered a left hip fracture. He died in hospital. A post mortem examination confirmed that the primary cause of death was pulmonary embolism, as a consequence of deep vein thrombosis as a consequence of pelvic trauma fractures.
