West End Commercial Ltd v London Trocadero (2015) LLP

Estoppel – Proprietary estoppel. On the current state of the law, namely, that an interest in property owned by the defendant was required to establish proprietary estoppel and not just a right in relation to a contract with the defendant, the claimant could not hope to establish the estoppel for which it contended and had not suffered relevant detriment. Accordingly, the Court of Appeal, Civil Division, declined to continue an injunction preventing the defendant from terminating the claimant's licence to occupy a unit.
