Media – Reporting restrictions. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, held that an order, made pursuant to s 11 of the Contempt of Court Act 1981, which withheld 'a matter' from the public, had to cover not only the evidence the subject of the order, but also the reasons for that order, of which had been inadvertently expressed in open court proceedings and a later email. Had it been otherwise, publication of such reasons would have frustrated or undermined the purpose of the order, and would have prejudiced the administration of justice.
