Sentence – Young person. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, in allowing the young defendants' appeals against sentence for two counts of murder, reduced the minimum terms specified under s 269(2) of the Criminal Justice Act 2003 from 20 years to 17-and-a-half years each. Further, notwithstanding that the defendants were only 15 years old, the court confirmed the judge's decision to, in the circumstances, lift reporting restrictions relating to their identity.
