R v Hamer

Sentence – Sexual harm prevention order. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, in allowing the defendant's appeal against sentence, held that, in the circumstances, the judge had had no power to make a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) by way of variation to the defendant's existing sexual offences prevention order (SOPO). Accordingly, the SHPO had to be set aside and the original SOPO imposed would continue in its unamended form.
