Immigration – Detention. The European Court of Human Rights held that the system of immigration detention in the United Kingdom had not, in principle, fallen short of the requirements of art 5(1)(f) of the European Convention on Human Rights. However, from mid-2008 to September 2009, the applicant's immigration detention had been in breach of art 5(1), as it could not be said that the applicant's deportation had been pursued with due diligence.
