Criminal evidence – Admissibility of evidence. High Court of Justiciary: Allowing a Crown appeal in a case in which the respondent, who was charged with assaulting her 2-month old child, successfully objected to the admissibility of a statement she had made to a social worker in the child's hospital room, the court held that evidential hearing judge had erred in characterising the conversation at the hospital as being an interview and it was satisfied that the statement the respondent made was admissible.
