Compensation – Criminal injuries. The Upper Tribunal had been correct to quash the strike-out order of the First-tier Tribunal in relation to an appeal arising from a reviewing officer's refusal to reopen a claim for criminal injuries compensation. However, its interpretation of the nature of the appellant authority's power to reopen a claim could not be upheld. Accordingly, the Court of Appeal, Civil Division set aside the order of the Upper Tribunal, so restoring the strikeout order of the First-tier Tribunal.
