Beshiri v Government of the Republic of Albania

Extradition – Extradition order. The request for the appellant's extradition to Albania to serve a sentence of six months' imprisonment for intimidating a judge had not been made for extraneous reasons, there was no risk of punishment, detention or restriction in his liberty by reference to his views on the Albanian justice system or risk of inhuman and degrading treatment. Accordingly, the Divisional Court dismissed his appeal and found there was no bar to extradition under ss 81 and 87 of the Extradition Act 2003 or arts 3 and 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
