Sentence – Custodial sentence. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, held that the offender's sentence of four-and-a-half years' imprisonment, for an offence of wounding with intent, had been unduly lenient. The offending ought to have been categorised as a category 2 offence under the relevant sentencing guidelines. Accordingly, the sentence imposed would be quashed and substituted for a term of seven years and two months' imprisonment.
