Sentence – Imprisonment. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, on a reference by the Attorney General under s 36 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988, held that a total sentence of seven years' imprisonment, for offences of aggravated burglary and causing grievous bodily harm with intent, committed against a 75 year old man, had been unduly lenient in all the circumstances. Accordingly, the offender's sentence was quashed and substituted for a total term of ten years' imprisonment.
