Reparation – Personal injury – Sexual abuse – Quantum of damages. Court of Session: In two personal injuries actions in which the pursuers, A and B, sought damages from the defender for sexual abuse which he carried out while they were aged between 8 and 19, and between about 8 and 11, respectively, the court held that the effect of the grant of summary decree in each case was that the defender was liable to make reparation for all of the assaults and wrongs which each pursuer complained of in her summons and in neither case was the finding of liability restricted to the crimes of which he was convicted; the total damages awarded to A came to £167,095, including £90,000 for solatium; the total damages awarded to B came to £33,006, with £20,000 being awarded for solatium.
