2 years FTC commencing Early 2021   

£40k pa, taxable in St Helena

A tax free International Supplement will also apply (ranging £15,800 – £22,100 per annum)

A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK.

You will have conduct of criminal prosecutions on behalf of the Attorney General in the Magistrate’s Court, the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.  This will include preparing and presenting cases in court from the pre-trial stage to appeal.

You will also regularly advise the Police on criminal and related matters and on occasion advise Customs and other government agencies. The role may also include providing training to the Police and other law enforcement agencies on criminal law and procedure. You may also become involved in other matters in the Attorney General’s Chambers including advising on proposed legislation with a criminal law aspect.

As a substantially experienced UK or Commonwealth qualified barrister or solicitor you will have proven advocacy experience, a strong background in conducting criminal cases and experience in running your own caseload.

An extensive benefits package is offered with 30 days leave per annum, fare paid travel for you and your family (spouse/partner and up to three children), freight, pension contribution, relocation allowance plus the International Supplement (see overseas vacancy information).
