At the end of 2008 both the Council and the European Parliament formally threw their weight behind ambitious EU plans on e-Justice, entrusting the Commission with the task of setting up a European e- Justice portal; the management of horizontal issues (technical standards, security, etc), and the setting of priorities for implementation. The Commission will be active on this in the coming months.
